Introduction & New Features

I’d like to introduce myself and personally thank each one of you for being an early believer in Chappy – the home services platform that plans to disrupt HomeAdvisor, Angi and Thumbtack (HAAT)! This post is long so I tried to bold the important things, but I urge you to read it when you have some time and check out our new features below!

 

My name is Shane Adams and I’m the Co-Founder & CEO. My friends and I started Chappy due to the frustrations we experienced as homeowners/renters (finding quality service providers) and frustrations I had as a realtor (paying $$$$ on leads, quite often worthless leads). After talking to dozens of others, we realized the existing solutions, HAAT, were really just glorified search engines selling really expensive leads. Often, this makes them cost prohibitive to small/medium-sized businesses and didn’t really save the homeowners/renters much time. Chappy was born!
 

For You (Providers)

  1. Stop wasting money on bad leads! Chappy does not sell leads. We provide you a free platform to bid on service requests. We do plan on monetizing the platform in the future, but right now it is all about gaining users. When we do monetize it, the plan is to earn commission by partnering with insurance companies to offer business, home and auto insurance and even realtor services for members…things that are value-add to our members and providers.
  2. Spend more time earning and less time bookkeeping! Chappy eliminates the need for invoicing and billing. Payment happens automatically.

 

For Members (Homeowners/Renters)

  1. Save time by providing bids, not phone numbers! All of us are busy. Chappy provides a convenient platform to cut down on the phone tag and back-and-forth emails.
  2. Autopay with credit card! This provides you with guaranteed and timely payment (direct deposit initiated 3 days after each service is performed) and enables the member to earn cash back and rewards.
  3. Consolidated calendar view! This provides members with an easy way to keep track of who is coming when, whether it’s lawn mowing day or pool cleaning day.

Gain more customers!

To instill more confidence in our members when choosing a bid, we have enabled a new More Details option they can click when reviewing bids. The below is an example of what it will look like to members. To set this up, simply go to Profile & Settings. And be certain to always provide a great custom note when making a bid. I mean, wouldn’t you choose this bid over one without a custom note?

 


 

Bid more accurately! 

bidMembers and providers now have an “Ask a question” button when reviewing bids (members) and when making bids (partners). Clicking this button will open up our new chatbot where you will be able to submit a question to us which we will then follow up with the other party to get the answer. Depending on how much use this gets and the results, we will develop native messaging so we don’t have to serve as an intermediary. Remember, once a bid is chosen all contact information is shared so this messaging feature is really just needed before a bid is chosen.


 

More customers via gift giving and referrals! 

Members can now send gifts and refer friends. This may not sound significant, but coupled with increased marketing spend we believe family, friends and colleagues will choose to gift Chappy to each other. Who wouldn’t want to receive credit towards a clean home, a professionally cooked meal or a freshly mowed lawn.


 

Add existing customers! 

If you want to manage your customers with Chappy, taking advantage of automatic payments and calendar scheduling, and providing your customers with all of the benefits of Chappy (including autopaying with their credit card and appt notifications), you can now easily do that by going to Add Existing Customer.


 

service feesCharge a different fee for first service! 

If you sometimes charge a different fee for the first service, perhaps the first lawn service or pool clean, you can now do that. See on your left.

 


 

Bid more accurately!

We have added Google Maps and Zillow links to the Submit a bid form. House cleaners may use the Zillow link to quickly see the exact square footage, # of bathrooms and how many stories a home might have. Pool cleaners may use Google Maps to measure the width and length of the pool (go to the Satellite view, right-click and choose Measure Distance).

 


 
We have many more features we are currently working on and have recently engaged with a marketing company and increased our marketing spend. This all equates to more members coming to the platform, more service requests and more customers for you. Expect future emails from me periodically when we have major new features to share.
